The Iziko Art Collections library has a wide variety of publications, exhibition catalogues, books, journals, pamphlets and multimedia for sale. These publications are available to purchase throughout the year. Interested art enthusiasts will need to enquire (either telephonically or in person) at the library to purchase their own personal copy of these publications.
Publications not on sale are available as resources to study within the library. A rich collection of multimedia resources are available. The library also has a historically significant collection of art-related newspaper clippings spanning the late 19th century to modern day.
The Iziko Art Collections library hosts an annual book sale on International Museum Day (IMD) each year. Held at the Iziko South African National Gallery, the book sale sees valuable collectors and research resources sold at a (very) discounted prices.

About the Museum
The Library Collection houses over 15 000 volumes, the library collection includes books, journals, exhibition catalogues, sales catalogues, pamphlets, exhibition invitations and artist files. The library holds about 400 journal titles of which 60 are current. A comprehensive newspaper clippings collection dating back to 1904 is now being digitized. Also included in the collection are videos and DVDs. An extensive collection of ephemera is available, arranged in over 300 art boxes.
Librarians are available to assist with research and to respond to reference enquiries. If unable to visit the library, reference services are also available via telephone, email, post or fax. As a reference library, all materials must be used in the library.
Photocopying facilities are available for a fee. Copyright restrictions apply.
Audio-visual viewing facilities are available for the video and DVD collection.
Due to space restrictions the library can accommodate a maximum of 15 clients at any one time.
